For our final WITS Talk of the 2019-2020 school year, we are excited to welcome back one of our long-time presenters, Michele Lansing, MA, MS Ed., LCSW. Michele is a therapist, consultant, and Director of Clinical Operations for Juvenile Protective Association.
In this video-based WITS Talk, Michele reads The Rabbit Listened by Cori Doerrfeld. The book follows Taylor after they experience a sad event and are offered a lot of advice from different animals. At the end of the book, we get to see what happens when the rabbit comes along and listens to Taylor. Following the read-aloud, Michele provides four tips to help support children during difficult times.
- Ask how the child is feeling.
- Let them know whatever they are feeling is okay.
- Sit with them in their feelings, and let them know they are not alone.
- Help them put words to their feelings.
