OUR MISSION
Reading matters
WITS sets students on a trajectory for success by building critical literacy skills and developing positive self-identity through teacher led professional development and volunteer powered mentorship programs.
Our outcomes are indicators of how year-long mentorship programs influence entire classrooms, fostering a school-wide culture of literacy and paving the way for long-term success.
WITS’ focuses on driving two measurable literacy outcomes: improving reading level growth and attitudes toward reading.
Over the past 3 years, 63% of WITS students surpassed the national average for annual reading level growth.
GOAL: WITS seeks to have 80% of its students surpass the national average for annual reading level growth. Make a donation and help us reach this goal.
Over the past 3 years, 63% of WITS students reported an improvement in overall attitude toward reading and reading behaviors (i.e. reading out loud, reading during a test, and reading to learn).
GOAL: WITS seeks to have 75% of its students report an improvement in overall attitude toward reading and reading behaviors. Make a donation and help us reach this goal.
