On Thursday, April 25, KPMG hosted a book bagging event for WITS as part of their Bring Your Son/Daughter to Work Day and to celebrate KPMG’s Family Literacy Program (KFFL) and the company’s partnership with WITS.

More than 250 children and their parents attended the half day of festivities which included stickering, bookmarking, and bagging books for the WITSummer Books campaign. WITS staff members were on-hand to help the process and advise on book bagging tips and tricks. KPMG Manager and WITS Associates Board Member, Hannah Littman, helped organize the event.

“KPMG is committed to lifelong learning and access to books in our community. KPMG’s Family for Literacy has really enjoyed the growing partnership with WITS. Together, we packed close to 5,000 books in April so students could have books to take home for the summer. This will really help avoid the summer slump,” Littman said.

This year, WITS was excited to welcome KPMG into the program fold. After many years of donating books to WITS through the KFFL program, KPMG started their own Mid-Day Mentoring Program with 37 mentors volunteering biweekly with students from William Penn Elementary School in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood.

WITS is thankful for the ongoing support of KFFL and KPMG for our WITSummer Books program and giving books to thousands of students in Chicago Public Schools.
