Throughout the year it is important to practice gratitude. However, during the holiday season, gratitude is a central theme among classroom learning and activities. In the WITS collection, we offer a variety of books that mentors can share with their students about being grateful.
A great book for our Kindergarten program is “The Thank You Book” by Mo Willems. Another book for our developing reader is “The Thankful Book” by Todd Parr.
Our second and third-grade students enjoy the “Those Shoes” by Maribeth Boelts.
For our older students, “Counting By 7s” by Holly Goldberg Sloan, “Wonder” by R. J. Palacio or “Out of My Mind” by Sharon M. Draper are great books that teach gratitude and are guaranteed to spark a conversation between you and your student.
