At WITS, we explore different poetic forms with our students and are always adding new poetry titles to our book bins.
Poetry builds reading fluency, introduces figurative language, and invites students to play with words and ideas. It also supports social-emotional development and builds empathy by offering windows into others’ lives. For more info about why poetry matters, check out this blog post.
